Documenting Black Excellence at Essence 2025: Glambitious Brunch. Featured in Upscale Magazine.

This summer, Sorena A. Photography had the privilege of partnering once again with visionary entrepreneur Lillie Mae, founder of the Glambitious brand, to document her sold-out Glambitious Brunch during Essence Festival 2025.

Held in the heart of New Orleans, this unforgettable event brought together a dynamic group of women entrepreneurs, speakers, and influencers, all drawn to Lillie Mae’s powerful message of faith, strategy, and visibility.

As the creative partner and photographer for the brunch, our focus was on telling the story of the day through thoughtful, authentic imagery. From candid moments of connection to the energy of the speaker panels and the elegance of the all-white theme, every frame was designed to capture the spirit of empowerment that filled the room.

This feature in Upscale Magazine’s online story on Lillie Mae and the Glambitious Brunch is one of many highlights in a long-standing commitment to celebrating stories of excellence and impact. Upscale, a national publication based in Atlanta, has long been dedicated to showcasing Black culture, entrepreneurship, and achievement, making this collaboration a natural fit.

Color of change Mothers day brunch 🍸🍽

Celebration and Solidarity: Color of Change Mother's Day Brunch

Location: Backatown Coffee Parlour

It was a joyous occasion capturing the essence of community and change at the Color of Change Mother's Day Brunch. Color of Change, a leading online racial justice organization, strives to empower the voices of Black communities and bring about positive political and social change. Their Mother's Day event was not just a celebration of mothers but also a reflection of the organization's commitment to nurturing and recognizing the strength of Black women.

The ambiance was lively with the delightful aromas from Backatown Coffee Parlour's catering, the sound of laughter blending with soulful live music, and the thrill of games that sparked camaraderie among the attendees. It was a day where the spirit of advocacy and maternal love coalesced, creating a memorable experience for all present.

This event underscores the vital role that Black mothers play in fostering community resilience and advocating for systemic change. Through these photographs, we see more than a gathering; we see a manifestation of Color of Change's mission to create a more inclusive and just society.
