A Milestone Moment: My First Exhibit at "IN THE SPIRIT OF BLACK"

I am thrilled to share a milestone in my journey as a photographer – my first exhibit participation in "IN THE SPIRIT OF BLACK" at the esteemed Ashé Cultural Arts Center https://www.ashenola.org. This incredible exhibition brings together a dynamic array of Black photographers, each exploring and celebrating the rich tapestry of Black life through their lenses.

The exhibit, curated by the talented Shana M. Griffin and Eric Waters, alongside a dedicated team, displays a diverse range of photographic styles. It beautifully captures the essence of Black life, culture, and history, both within New Orleans and beyond. Being a part of this powerful showcase alongside 74 other photographers, each with their unique perspective, is both humbling and exhilarating.

From March 31 to May 27, 2023, the exhibit will be open, featuring over 120 captivating images that speak volumes of our experiences, struggles, and triumphs. The SEEING BLACK team's effort to compile these works into the upcoming book "SEEING BLACK: Black Photography in New Orleans 1840 and Beyond" adds another layer of excitement. I am proud to announce that my work will also grace the pages of this significant publication.

This journey from capturing moments to being a part of this grand exhibit and the upcoming book has been nothing short of surreal. To see my work alongside such talented artists, in a space that values and amplifies Black voices, is a dream come true.

For anyone interested in experiencing this rich collection of photography and the stories they tell, I encourage you to visit the exhibit. More details can be found at Ashé Cultural Arts Center - IN THE SPIRIT OF BLACK.
