Behind the Lens: Documenting the Vacation Plantation Film Screening

Earlier this month, I had the honor of documenting a powerful evening in New Orleans, the screening of Vacation Plantation, a documentary by filmmakers Alex Bezeau and Lauren Cudmore (@bluelobstertales), held at The Broadside.

This thought-provoking film dives deep into the complexities of plantation tourism and the stories often left out of public view. The screening was followed by a community-centered panel that brought both urgency and reflection to the conversation.

Who Was in the Room

The event was organized by @thedescendantsproject, a local organization led by Jo Banner, and sponsored by @midlocenter, both of whom are at the forefront of truth-telling and historical justice in the South.

The post-film panel featured:

Each panelist brought raw truth and emotional clarity to the conversation. The audience was fully engaged, some with emotion in their faces, others asking deep, necessary questions. It was a packed house, but more importantly, it was a house ready to listen.

My Role & Reflection

As a documentary and event photographer, capturing this night was a responsibility. Every frame carried weight. The expressions, the pauses, the silent head nods, all told their own story.

I’m incredibly grateful to have been trusted with that lens.

With Gratitude

Special thanks to the entire Vacation Plantation team, the organizers, panelists, and every person in the room who showed up not just to watch, but to witness.

To Lauren and Alex, thank you for allowing SAP to contribute to your vision. And to anyone reading: this film is available for educational licenses and future screenings. Reach out to Lauren@BlueLobsterTales.com for more information.

Demario Davis: Leading on and off the field: Capturing the Devoted Dreamers spring enrichment program

Go behind the scenes with New Orleans Saints linebacker Demario Davis and the Devoted Dreamers Foundation as they empower local youth through mentorship, education, and community partnerships.

This spring, we had the privilege of documenting the work of Devoted Dreamers, a nonprofit founded by Demario Davis and his wife, Tamela Davis. While Demario is making headlines this week for his leadership and performance with the Saints, his impact off the field is equally inspiring.

Through Devoted Dreamers’ Spring enrichment program , youth in New Orleans gain mentorship, education, and real-world skills that extend far beyond sports. Supported by partners like Ochsner and OnPath Federal Credit Union, the program introduced students to health, wellness, and financial literacy, providing tools for success both now and in the future.

Sorena A Photography specialize in capturing moments where influence meets community impact. From classroom discussions to hands-on learning activities, every image from this program reflects the dedication, mentorship, and hope that fuel change in our city.

While Davis may be trending for his achievements on the field, it’s these behind-the-scenes commitments to the next generation that tell the deeper story.
